The History and Archaeology Department, more precisely the archaeologists Dr. Thanos Sideris, Zeta Kalogeropoulou, Guentcho Banev and Dr. Ioannis Georganas, participated and organized all the excavations of the FHW. In the area of Tavros, Athens, and within the plot belonging to the Cultural Centre "Hellenic Cosmos", there has been unearthed a medieval wine press during the summer of 2007, under the surveillance of the 1st Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities. Τhe wine press will be conserved, protected and made accessible to visitors on FHW’s expenses and care. Besides, since summer 2009 FHW has started a joint excavation project with the Archaeological Institute with Museum of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, at the site Halka Bunar, city Brata Daskalovi, region of Stara Zagora in Bulgaria.
