History Sites on the Internet

The central body of the diachronic presentation of Hellenic history is supported by other projects, such as the project “Cities”, which presents specific cities in a given period of time and examines the relationships of people, the area in which they lived, the events that influenced them, as well as their everyday activities. The programme includes the following presentations:

The programme under the general title “Historical Series” is the result of collaboration with research institutions in Greece and abroad and the following programmes are presented:
  • Theodoros. In the footsteps of a monk in 10th century Byzantium
    (http://theodoros.fhw.gr/)
The first “serial” on the Internet in weekly illustrated episodes, in Greek and English. The leading character is Theodoros, an imaginary subject of the Byzantine Empire. The series is based on the hagiological texts and sources of the 10th and 11th century and familiarizes children and adults with the history and culture of that era.
  • Antonius Polemon, The Sophist (http://polemon.fhw.gr/)
A series of eight episodes, presenting life in the Roman Period, through the fictitious narration of the life of the sophist Polemon.

Furthermore, the visitors of the site can enjoy the following presentations of the Foundation:
