The Founder-President of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, Mr Lazaros Efraimoglou received an award from two well-known educational bodies, the British state University of Northumbria at Newcastle and Mediterranean ECS, at an evening ceremony at the Bankios Hall, the headquarters building of Mediterranean ECS.

In aknowledgement of Mr Efraimoglou's important and substantial work, the president of Mediterranean ECS, Mr Sophoklis Xynis, and the guest of honor, Professor David Weir, Dean of the Business School of the state University of Northumbria at Newcastle, presented him with the Special Award for 1998.

The event is part of a tradition which this educational organisation has begun, of annually picking out one of the numerous outstanding personalities of the year and making an award to him/her. The prize is awarded on the recommendation of committees of specialist scholars from the Association and from universities which have a working partnership with it at the international level.
