On Tuesday 5 June, at Zappion, an event of the International Centre "Costas Kyriazis" took place, during which prizes were awarded to Greek journalists and public figures about their national and social work.

After short speeches by Mrs Artemis Kyriazi and Professor Mr Nikos Kyriazis, medals were awarded to the Minister of Tourism of France Mrs M. Denessine, the President of the International Press Institute, the chief editor of "Neue Zurcher Zeitung" Dr Hugo Butler and the writer and columnist of the "New York Times" Mrs Thomas Friedman. The journalists's awards were received by Mr Antonis Karakousis, Mr Giannis Pretenteris, Mrs Eleni Kalogeropoulou and Mr Stavros Theodorakis.
The President of the Foundation of the Hellenic World Mr Lazaros Efraimoglou was awarded the Centre's prize for his social, cultural and charitable activity and about his valuable contribution to the promotion of Greek culture. Honorary awards were received by Mrs Katerina Panagopoulou and Mr Hristos Iakovou and Mr Hristos Tzekos. The event attended politicians, diplomats, members of the university, business and intellectual community.
