Rules of pentathlon

The pentathlon was a combination of the two types of events that existed in ancient world: the light events comprising of jumping, running and javelin and the heavy events which were the discus and wrestling.

The sources are of little help in establishing the way the winner was declared. Thus, it is not known whether it was the winner of all five games or only of the three of them (one of which was wrestling) who was declared winner.
